Yamilka Almeyda, MD, FAAP

Dr. Almeyda is a compassionate pediatrician dedicated to providing exceptional healthcare to underserved minority and Hispanic communities. Dr. Almeyda’s journey began in the Dominican Republic, where she pursued her medical education, driven by a profound desire to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children.

After completing her pediatric residency at Maynard Children’s Hospital at ECU Health Medical Center, Dr. Almeyda recognized a critical need for pediatric providers in the Greenville area, particularly in addressing language barriers and health disparities among Spanish-speaking families. This realization ignited her passion for serving these communities, inspiring her to start a pediatric practice to offer equitable healthcare access and culturally sensitive medical care.

Dr. Almeyda’s commitment goes beyond the confines of traditional healthcare. She actively engages with community organizations, collaborates with interpreters, and implements innovative strategies to bridge the gap between medical services and Spanish-speaking families. She is a Board-Certified Pediatrician and member of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), and her holistic approach emphasizes not only treating illnesses but also empowering families to lead healthier lives through education and support.

In addition to her professional endeavors, Dr. Yamilka Almeyda cherishes her role as a devoted wife and loving mother to three wonderful children. For her, family is not just a priority but a source of joy and inspiration that enriches every aspect of her life.

Outside of her medical practice, Dr. Almeyda embraces the beauty of North Carolina and its surrounding areas, often seizing the opportunity to explore the diverse landscapes and vibrant communities. One of her favorite pastimes is embarking on adventures with her family, whether it’s discovering hidden gems in local neighborhoods or venturing to the sandy shores of the beach. There, amidst the soothing sounds of the waves and the gentle caress of the breeze, she finds solace and rejuvenation, cherishing every moment spent creating treasured memories with her loved ones.
